Community

As part of our company’s mission, New Holland Pictures looks for opportunities to help build the filmmaking community we belong to, at a local and state level, and beyond.

Dutch-Australian Co-Production Treaty

New Holland Pictures in Australia and IdtV Film and Fu Works in The Netherlands are working together to gather support for an official treaty between our two countries. We are currently compiling a list of potentially interested parties, especially producers. If you feel you could benefit from such a Treaty, please register your interest with cathy@newhollandpictures.com.au

Scripts on Southgate

Scripts On Southgate

New Holland Pictures runs a series of script reading sessions at a local pub for scriptwriters to share their stories, hear their work performed by actors, get constructive feedback and to network with the wider filmmaking community.

Scripts on Southgate is held approximately every eight weeks, on a Tuesday evening.

Next SOS June 2008

Scripts on Southgate aims to not only help improve films by Brisbane filmmakers, but to be a creative night where the art of writing and film will be discussed, performed, devolved and celebrated. It is a night actors perform in front of an audience, writers hear their stories come alive and the audience shares opinions and advice with both the writers and actors.

The general public is very welcome to attend.

PARTICIPATION:

Writers are being invited to submit their scripts for consideration. The scripts undergo a selection process, and those scripts that we feel will benefit most from the process will have priority. (But it doesn’t end there … read on.)

We aim to read four scripts per session, maximum of 20 minutes each. This means we can read short film scripts in full, but for feature and drama scripts, we’ll only be able to read a number of scenes. So the writer needs to nominate the part of their script they’d like read and discussed.  Then on the night, the writer will introduce their reading, give our audience a background on the story, and be available for feedback after the reading.

In all, it's a fun and creatively-charged evening.

AIMS:

  • Encourage and promote Brisbane film writers.
  • To inspire an active, thriving and creative script writing community in Brisbane.
  • To create an informal forum for script writers to share their stories and receive constructive feedback, encouragement and advice.
  • To help script writers develop and improve storylines, characters, plots and themes.
  • To provide a networking opportunity for writers, producers, directors and crew.
  • To offer all Brisbane residents a chance to be a part of the film making process.
  • To encourage Brisbane stories, particularly from minority groups.
