New Holland Pictures presents Scripts Off Southgate, an informal script reading evening set up to assist Brisbane writers in developing strong, marketable stories.

Approximately every four months, at an outdoor venue in Cannon Hill, writers have the opportunity to hear their scripts read by professional actors and then engage in a critical discussion with the actors and audience about their work. Actors will read from the script/scene and then the writer, audience and actors will discuss it with the aim of resolving any issues.

SOS is held at 2 Andrews Street (Barrack Road entry). Directly opposite the Cannon Hill train station, just off Wynnum Road. It's ten minutes from the city by car or six stops from Southbank Station on the Cleveland line.

We are interested in scenes from features that are 15 - 20 minutes long, or short film scripts in entirety. Ideally your script will have no more than six characters. In the spirit of theatre sports, none of the scripts will be preselected. Just turn up script in hand for the chance for it to be read out.
