Renovation Week 1

Like most renovations these  days, top of the list is tearing up the old carpet to reveal the beautiful wooden floorboards beneath. We pulled up the carpet in one corner of the lounge and discovered stunning 40 year old Kaihikatere floorboards. We are really excited to get these floor boards back to original condition, shine them up and have them on display in the lounge, but first things first…..we need to insulate under the floorboards, so when the carpet comes up, it won’t reveal any nasty draughts.

The solution is Pink Bats Cosy Floor.  These Tasman pink batts from Placemakers are lined with foil.  The pink batts keep the warmth in – the foil keeps moisture out.  Your home will be warm and dry!

Made from recycled glass, installing them is easy.  Simply fit them between the joists, with the foil on the exterior side.  Then attach them using a staple gun along the edges.  Finally, still using your industrial staple gun, apply the blue Danband tape across the Cosy Floor to reinforce the installation and prevent it from sagging.

Or of course, you could always get Placemakers to organise the installation for you!  And while it may take you two or three days to install Cosy Floor, a house the size of Our Place can be fitted in a day by the Pinkfit ® professionals.
