Garden Diary Overview
Picture the Mayan ruins and you will get an idea of what the garden at Our Place resembles. Overgrown trees, rotting fruit and flowers decomposing in a forgotten orchard, native bush so thick and wild you’d expect the last of the Moa to be hiding in there. But most importantly hidden beneath it all are the treasures of the Our Place Dynasty- various dilapidated structures that have at one time or another been the main features of the house over the years. Hidden steps that rumours suggest lead to a secret beach on the Manukau Harbour, a quick fix wooden ‘stage’ that covers a forgotten swimming pool, a bizarre Spa pool that wedged almost completely under the front balcony, and who knows what other treasures will be revealed as we peel back the overgrown green layers.
Garden Gnome Geoff had no idea what he was getting himself into when he took on the gardening job at Our Place. His enthusiasm and confidence waned upon first inspection of the site. The garden transformation instantly became a massive project. However after a quick pep talk from Evie and the team Geoff gave it the ‘green’ thumbs up, and took on the challenge to transform The Our Place Garden of Ruins, into The Our Place Garden of West Eden.
