Scripts Off Southgate re-launches in Queensland Writers Week
20 September, 2011

Queensland Writers Week will see the re-launch of successful community script-reading evenings, Scripts Off Southgate (SOS).
Held at a new outdoor venue in Cannon Hill, SOS aims to helping writers develop strong screen stories while creating a rare networking opportunity for local talent.
SOS re-launches with a Halloween-themed night. All keen screenwriters are encouraged to come along with their short film or 15-20 pages from their feature scripts from the HORROR film genre. On the night, 4 scripts will be drawn out of a barrel and performed by professional actors to an audience of Brisbane writers, actors, producers, directors, agents, crew, critics and general film lovers.
The Halloween-themed evening takes place on the 11th October 2011, from 6-9pm, in the garden of New Holland Pictures’ new office on Barrack Road, Cannon Hill (opp. the Cannon Hill train station). This night is the first of a regular event where approximately every four months writers get a chance to hear their scripts read and engage in critical discussion with the actors and audience about their work.
During 2006-2008, SOS was held at a pub in Cannon Hill and quickly became a successful and enjoyable evening attended by both industry professionals and the general public.
Showcasing local Brisbane talent, SOS provides a fun and entertaining night out for all the family. Light refreshments and snacks will be available to purchase on the evening. BYO alcohol, blanket and fold up chair.
