Scripts Off Southgate re-launches in Queensland Writers Week
11 October, 2011
Scripts Off Southgate (SOS) was successfully re-launched by New Holland Pictures at an exclusive outdoor venue in Cannon Hill last week. An entertaining evening was had by all as writers Matt Ryan, Margaret Risely, Angela Walsh, and Stephen Irwin all had their horror themed scripts drawn from a barrel and performed live by professional actors.
After each reading the floor was opened up to a modest but enthusiastic audience of local writers, actors, producers and filmgoers who participated in lively feedback.
On the night, Stephen Irwin’s script won the audience vote whilst filmgoers, Sue and Gary Northey won the film raffle.
Now it’s time to for all keen screenwriters to get your love/romance/rom com scripts ready for Round 2. Writers are asked to let us know if they’re planning to participate and then bring along their script on the evening. Scripts need to be no longer then 20 minutes/pages, so include short film scripts and select sequence from longer form. The Valentines-themed event will be held on the 7th Feb 2012 at 6:30pm, 2 Andrews Street, Cannon Hill.
SOS is a community event designed to help local screenwriters develop strong film stories. Any submission or publicity enquiries should be directed to jessica@newhollandpictures.com.au.
