Queenslanders Dominate IF Award nominations

The Pacific Film and Television Commission (PFTC) would like to congratulate the raft of Queenslanders nominated for 10th annual 2008 Inside Film (IF) Awards, after the complete list of nominees was announced today in Sydney.

The IF Awards are the people's choice awards for Australian films. Nominees are selected based on a nation-wide audience poll that enables Australian film enthusiasts to rate films during film festivals and screenings or via the IF Awards website.

Winners are recognised at a glittering Awards ceremony which is held on the Gold Coast each November, as part of Queensland's week-long industry intensive which includes the Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) annual conference and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

In a nod to the health of the local screen industry, Queenslanders have been nominated in 12 of the 18 award categories. New Holland Pictures' feature film Unfinished Sky, which received production funding from the PFTC, has scooped the pool with eight nominations.

The PFTC offers congratulations to all Queensland nominees and wishes them the best of luck at the Awards ceremony on Thursday 13 November. The ceremony will be broadcast live on SBS TV and replayed on SHOWTIME on Tuesday 18 November and Wednesday 19 November.

The IF Award for Best Short Documentary - Rare Chicken Rescue, Directed by Randall Wood and produced by Vickie Gest.

The 3 IF Award for Best Music Video - Directors Damon Escott and Stephen Lance and producer Leanne Tonkes - "If You Keep Losing Sleep" by Silverchair .
