Screen Qld Announces Development Attachments: Jessica Pyne

This month Screen Queensland announced the three screen industry practitioners who were successful in their application to the Development Attachment programme.

The Project and Business Development programme is designed to broaden the skill base of Queensland practitioners and develop a sustainable screen industry. The Development Attachment places the practitioner in a position within a production company, with Screen Queensland funding up to 50 per cent of the wage of the position.

Successful applicants were chosen based on the benefit to the individual and the company in relation to a transfer of skills and an increase in development activity.

The practitioners selected for attachments within a mentoring production company were Laura Dimaio, Ella Holmes and Jessica Pyne.

Laura Dimaio will be attached to Liquid Animation as Senior Animation Producer, where she will work closely with the CEO to manage the commercialisation of the intellectual property assets of the company and to produce various studio projects.

Ella Holmes will be attached as Associate Producer - Development and Factual to Fury Productions, working across their development and production slate and training in production management skills.

New Holland Pictures will be mentoring Jessica Pyne in the role of Development/Production Assistant, assisting the producers and working in development, publicity and production."

Screen Queensland CEO Maureen Barron said the purpose of the Development Attachments Programme was to support the professional and business development of the Queensland screen industry.

"The transfer of skills between experienced and inexperienced practitioners is a valuable process which has benefits not only for the individuals involved but for the industry as a whole," said Ms Barron.

"As these practitioners gain experience with their mentoring company they will in turn develop the ability to generate jobs for other screen industry professionals."

The next round of development attachments will open later in the year.
