Bright SPARKs

The Strangerland team returned home from their intensive SPARK workshop at Noosa weary but inspired.

The program was a week long for writer Fiona Seres, with director Kim Farrant and producer Cathy Overett joining her for the final four days. They worked closely with their four advisors: Linda House, David Veloz, Joan Sauers and Michael Brindley, and mentor Geoffrey Wright.

“Character was very important for us, and each of the advisors approached this in a different way, which gave us a real depth of analysis,” said Cathy.

“Our session with Helen Carmichael was very revealing, and pitching to John Collee really helped galvanise our ending.

SPARK is an AFC/AFTRS initiative. “It was a great opportunity for us all and we are now looking forward to reading the next draft.”
