All aboard Bontekoe

New Holland Pictures has been appointed as the local production services company for a tropical island shoot for the historical adventure film De Scheepsjongens of Bontekoe.  This 16-day shoot in the Cairns/Daintree area includes 2 days with the sea-worthy replica of the Dutch ship the Duyfken.

Based on the classic Dutch novel De Scheepsjongens of Bontekoe (The Ship Boys of [Captain] Bontekoe), this is a rollicking children’s film. It follows the adventures of three boys aboard a Dutch East Indies ship in 1620. When their ship blows up, the three boys are washed ashore on a tropical island where they have a close encounter with the locals and make a raft which finally takes them on to Batavia (Indonesia).
