Born in Germany, sportsman turned actor Matthias comes from a long line of performers. His screen debut was in Corey Yuen's No Retreat, No Surrender 2 in 1987 and he quickly proved popular in the action genre appearing in a variety of films over the 90's. Best known for his role as the bad alien in I Come In Peace, he also played a Klingon general in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country before landing his first leading part in Phillip Roth’s Digital Man in 1995.

Matthias has also featured in popular television shows such as Age of Treason, Conan and Power Rangers.  Due to his imposing and muscular stature he has appeared largely as a henchman or intimidating villain but has been known to shed muscle for film roles. He is currently cast as Hugh De Montfort in Robin Jacob's epic film 1006 and as Petrov in The Rogue.
